Lifecycle legend
Roster status mapped onto the edge lifecycle: candidate → capturing → diagnostic → decision-grade → paper-ready → paper-running → promoted, with killed and archived as the honest exits.

- Accepted as a cost-clearing edge and running forward on the execution-routed lane. The operating record keeps accruing; promotion is never permanent.
- FORWARD VALIDATIONcapturing · diagnostic
- Signals logged forward toward a decision-grade sample. Paper-ready only once the sample and diagnostics clear — no capital, no promotion.
- EMPTY SEATcandidate
- Open research seat. A candidate must survive capture and diagnostics before it can hold the seat.
- SHADOWarchived · benchmark
- A retired generation kept as a receipt-pipeline benchmark and negative control. Not a forward-facing candidate.
